Five questions to ask about a lab-grown diamond
A practical checklist covering origin, specifications, documentation, environmental claims and the complete price.

Clear information helps you compare the pieces you like.
1. Is the origin stated?
A lab-grown diamond is produced in a laboratory. It has essentially the same chemical, physical and optical properties as a natural diamond, but a different origin. Look for that origin in the product details.
2. What specifications am I comparing?
Check weight, shape, measurements and any stated colour and clarity. Make sure both prices describe the same metal and included components.
3. What documentation comes with it?
Ask about the report for the specific diamond. Do not assume that every small stone comes with an individual report or that a metal hallmark is a diamond grade.
4. What supports a sustainability claim?
Lab-grown origin alone does not establish environmental impact or working conditions. Ask for the evidence behind any producer, energy or sourcing claim.
5. Is this the whole price?
Confirm whether the figure covers the finished piece, a setting, or selected components. For earrings, check whether the stated weight and price cover a pair.
