The 4Cs of diamonds
Four details. A better comparison.
Read the 4Cs together. A carat weight alone cannot tell you how a diamond will look or whether two prices are comparable.
Cut
Cut quality describes how proportions, polish and symmetry influence the way a diamond handles light. It is different from shape, such as oval or round.
Colour
For diamonds graded on the D–Z scale, D sits at the colourless end. Compare the report and the actual appearance rather than relying on a product render.
Clarity
Clarity considers internal and surface characteristics. A grade does not tell you on its own whether a particular feature will be noticeable to you.
Carat
Carat measures weight. One carat equals 0.2 grams. Two diamonds with the same weight can have different face-up dimensions.
Before you choose
Confirm diamond origin, measurements, the laboratory and any report number, then compare the same metal and included stones. A setting-only price should be compared with another setting-only price.
