What does 1 ct mean for diamond earrings?

The difference between weight per earring, total pair weight and the centre diamonds in a halo.

Four-Claw Marquise Diamond Stud Earrings

For an equal pair, 1.00 ct total means 0.50 ct in each earring.

That small distinction makes a big difference when comparing prices. Two listings can both mention “1 ct” while describing very different pairs.

Look for the pair total

Our earring weight lists show the combined weight for the pair. The product page also spells out the weight in each equal earring. A 2.00 ct pair, for example, has a 1.00 ct diamond in each solitaire stud.

Check halo weights separately

For a halo design, a weight marked as the combined centres refers to the two main diamonds. The surrounding halo diamonds are additional. Keep that distinction in mind when comparing a solitaire pair with a halo pair.

Compare more than the number

Carat is weight rather than diameter. The outline and proportions affect how the diamond looks. Compare origin, metal, individual measurements and the included fittings as well as the weight.

A close-up render is useful for seeing the design, but it does not show every carat choice at its exact size. Check the selected options before adding the piece to your bag.
